Shakespeare Revels for Centre Stage
Centre Stage was a weekly radio programme hosted by Dublin City FM from 2013-2024 by Jack Gilligan. The show had a rich history of supporting local talent. It was highly regarded within the arts community for its in-depth interviews with actors, directors, and playwrights working in local venues like the Smock Alley Theatre and Bewley's Café Theatre. As well as its Irish amateur drama coverage, actively promoting the Drama League of Ireland (DLI) and community theatre circuits.
During the Covid Pandemic the Dublin Shakespeare Society was commissioned to produce a segment entitled 'Shakespeare Revels', and Newtown Audio provided the production support.

Brief
The programme was to be broadcast on 28 June 2021 as a special episode of Centre Stage.
Challenge
While music for the programme was sourced online or from the artists themselves (as was the case with Marion McEvoy's Full Fathom Five), the dialogue was to be recorded on location in a family home.
Solution
We selected the best room in the home and provided local treatment, combined with close-mic'd large diaphragm condensers to capture the dialogue. All dialogue was mixed to blend with the three differing music sources.
How we helped
The programme provided a welcome special to Centre Stage's summer programme and highlighted the skills of the local Dublin Shakespeare Society.
